1st  Year[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]I believe that every student and child is different in their own way. It is important to realize how they
learn by getting to know students and using their strengths to heighten interest, motivation and
successful learning.
An early start in education will foster a love and excitement in reading and writing that will carry with
them. These building blocks of knowledge now set a solid foundation for learning that allows for sturdier
connections.
After receiving my BA in Journalism from Oakland University, I sought out my teaching education from
Florida Gulf Coast University in Fort Myers, Florida. I taught 7 th Grade Language Arts at LaBelle Middle
School in Hendry County, FL. My background includes having over 120 training hours invested into ESOL,
was active in a teach at home program for students temporarily incapacitated, summer school program
with a focus in Math, and maintaining an inclusion classroom.
I have passion and patience that I am excited to bring into the classroom here at Academic Gardens.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/6″][vc_single_image image=”102″ style=”vc_box_border_circle_2″ border_color=”orange”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1504554821338{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

3 Year Lead Teacher

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]I have always known that I have wanted to help people, specifically children. As a teacher, it is essential to be patient, understanding, and compassionate. I am whole heartedly prepared to bring these qualities into the classroom.

I believe that children are capable beings and it is extremely important to promote independence in the classroom. Working in the field has taught me to view each child as an individual and to accommodate any needs that will help their development. My ultimate goal is to have given my students the tools and motivation they need to reach their full potential, and lead successful lives.

My academic experiences, tutoring experiences, volunteer experiences, and my experience in the work force have prepared me to become the knowledgeable teacher that students need. I have worked with students as young as three, all the way to twelve years old. I have a strong desire to work with children of any age, and working in the field has reinforced that desire. I believe that I will be a great asset to your school’s community and am ready to reveal to you my strengths that make me an effective teacher![/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/4″][vc_single_image image=”2394″ style=”vc_box_border_circle_2″ border_color=”green”][vc_column_text css=”.vc_custom_1504555006598{margin-bottom: 10px !important;}”]

Music Teacher

3  Years

[/vc_column_text][vc_column_text]

At the age of 5, Justin discovered the great Stevie Wonder during a trip to the local record store. Infatuated with Stevie’s music, young Justin found his purpose when his parents informed him that Stevie Wonder was blind.
Justin was born legally blind in his left eye.
He suddenly realized that music was his calling.
Justin started his first piano lessons soon after, voice lessons at the age of 8, and guitar at the age of 13. Since then he has also learned how to play electric bass, drum-set, ukulele, and harmonica, and possesses a rudimentary knowledge of a variety of instruments such as trumpet, cello, flute, saxophone, and more.
He formed his first rock band in high school and found a great passion for performing as a lead singer and guitarist.
In 2002, Justin began his teaching career at Broughton Music Center in Northville. Since then he has taught an average of 50 students per week in guitar, voice, piano, bass, harmonica, ukulele, and drums.
Justin places his most hard-working and talented students into rock bands that he coaches. His groups have won multiple awards and many go on to record songs in the studio (where Justin moonlights as a producer) that are now available in iTunes and elsewhere.
Justin has written many songs and has his own music in iTunes as well with his current band, Social Bones. The group performs all around the metro Detroit area.
In 2009 he graduated Summa Cum Laude from Eastern Michigan University, with a degree in K-12 Music Education, majoring in classical voice.
In 2015, Justin began teaching preschool music at Academic Gardens, where his son Milo was in attendance. Teaching these classes has become one of the great joys of his professional life.
