Why I became a Teacher...

As a child I always found art as something that let me express my own uniqueness and freedom. My 5th grade art teacher at Smith Elementary always  said, there are no mistakes in art, and I loved that. That same year, I did my own rendition of Vincent Van Gogh’s “Starry night” which was framed and hung in the school for at least a decade.  I was so proud of that painting and knew that one day I would like to encourage this confidence and creativity in others. I’ve dreamed of the day when I would have a studio of my own to share and invite others in to get messy and make cool stuff. Today that dream is a reality for me. I get to encourage little ones to bring out their own individual awesomeness through endless mediums and creative challenges.
